Mazunte and Puerto Angel

Yesterday we headed south along the coast to Mazunte, home of the Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga (the Mexican Center of Turtles).

I had my doubts about this place, since the turtle sanctuary we visited last week was underwhelming, but it was great. They had a huge number of turtles, both sea and land, and they were well presented with interesting information.

We really enjoyed watching the turtles, especially the sea turtles.

Next we headed a bit further south to Puerto Angel, a very sleepy fishing village. Selso had briefly thought about staying in Puerto Angel instead of Puerto Escondido, but we are glad he chose Escondido. Puerto Angel was just a little too sleepy for us. But it was fun to check it out. We especially enjoyed seeing all the pelicans resting on fishing boats.

In the late afternoon Davis did a little more surfing. The waves were much choppier than the first time she surfed, but she is out again this morning so hopefully she will have more success.

And so ends another day in beautiful Puerto Escondido.
